La Capilla de Nuestra Señora del Carmen
A quaint, sunbathed chapel greets the visitors to Salinas Isla del Carmen, located in Isla Carmen, a few miles from Loreto.
Broken-down stone buildings bask under the morning sun across the terrain. Only a few remain useful for its caretakers, who will gladly exchange a few pounds of sea salt for beverages.
Scattered across the mine lie the rusty remains of the machinery used to process and transport the salt.
The landscape opens up into a vast territory.
Isla Carmen is known for being a hunting ground for bighorn sheep.
